Mario Ceballos

Mario Ceballos joined Kaiser Permanente in May 2008 as the first Community Benefit Manager for the Los Angeles Medical Center, Kaiser Permanente Southern California’s flagship operating, teaching hospital and medical campus. 

In this capacity, Mr. Ceballos is responsible for the development, implementation, and management of locally-based Community Benefit strategies, programs, plans and philanthropic efforts to help improve the health of the Medical Center’s local communities, including the greater metropolitan area of the City of Los Angeles, Pasadena, Glendale, Burbank, East Los Angeles, Hollywood and West Hollywood. 

Before joining Kaiser Permanente, Mr. Ceballos was the President/Managing Partner of Capacity Building Group, a community relations, social marketing, and capacity building consulting firm. There, he guided both public sector and non-profit organizations in their efforts to achieve sustainable community impact and increase access to healthcare, education, HIV/AIDS services, immigrant rights and integration, and economic development for LA County’s diverse communities. 

Mr. Ceballos was also the Director of Marketing & Communications for the LA Gay & Lesbian Center where he directed and implemented all marketing and communication strategies and efforts for programs, services, and activities. In partnership with the San Francisco AIDS Foundation, Mr. Ceballos developed and launched the marketing campaign strategy for the 1st AIDSLifeCycle/Ride to End AIDS, which raised over $4.1 million. To date, this signature event has raised over $194 million for HIV/AIDS treatment and services for the underserved.

Prior to his work in community building, Mr. Ceballos spent 14 years with the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) working in the areas of human resources/employment management, labor relations, community workforce development and outreach. 

Currently, Mr. Ceballos is President and Founding Member of HONOR PAC, a non-partisan, mission-driven political action committee committed to supporting openly LGBTQ Latinx candidates and elected officials, as well as other progressive individuals across the United States committed to an inclusive society for all. He serves as a member of the City of Los Angeles 2020 -2029 Housing Element Task Force and as an Advisory Board Member of the Hollywood4WRD Homeless Coalition. 

Mr. Ceballos civic participation include serving as: Commissioner, City of LA Affordable Housing Commission, Member; City of LA Homeless Element Task Force, Commissioner, Commission, LA County Human Relations Commission; Member, Delta/AeroMexico Latino Leadership Board,; Board Member, Foothill AIDS Project, Board Member, Hollywood4WRD Homeless Coalition. He was also the Executive Director/General Manager for VIVA!, a Latino/a Gay & Lesbian Arts organization, served on the Board of Directors of AIDS Healthcare Foundation and the Southern California’s Public Television Station KCET’s Community Advisory Board, among other organizations. 

Mr. Ceballos earned a BA degree in Social Psychology/Economics from Occidental College.
