On Sunday, August 24, 2025, Sunset Junction became the epicenter of resilience and unity as hundreds joined Walk4Humanity, a mobilization of love, power, and justice for Trans, Gender Expansive, and Intersex (TGI) individuals—especially Black, Brown, and immigrant communities.

Against the backdrop of escalating violence, funding cuts, and attacks on human rights, Walk4Humanity sent a powerful message: our communities will not be erased. The event featured an opening ceremony, live performances, community activations, and a spirited 1.5-mile walk that began at Sunset & Sanborn and concluded at Sunset & Hobart (Sunset Junction).

Speakers included Maria Roman-Taylorson, a longtime advocate and leader in social services for the Transgender community, and Bamby Salcedo, President and Founder of the TransLatin@ Coalition. The walk was led by Grand Marshal Kalen Allen, whose presence brought added joy, visibility, and inspiration to the day.

Entertainment throughout the day featured powerful performances by David Hernandez, LZ Love, LaBamby, and more, who energized the crowd and uplifted the event’s message of unity and resilience.

“This is an event to bring people together, to walk for our own humanity, and stand in solidarity with one another—while at the same time raising money for The TransLatin@ Coalition.”

-Bamby Salcedo, CEO & President of The TransLatin@ Coalition

The event drew broad community support, with attendees ranging from grassroots organizers to families, allies, and advocates. Together, participants helped raise an extraordinary $416,138, which will sustain vital programs that advance safety, health, and visibility for TGI individuals across Los Angeles and beyond.

Walk4Humanity concluded with a call to action: to carry the spirit of the walk forward, ensuring the fight for equity and dignity continues every day.
