Everyone deserves health care coverage free from discrimination. AB 1876, the Fair Care for All Act, would strengthen California’s protections for transgender, gender-expansive, and intersex people and others who face barriers to care.

Our Policy Department advocates for transgender, gender-expansive, and intersex communities through strategic policy initiatives, community education, research, coalition building, and direct engagement with policymakers.
As attacks against transgender communities intensify, our work is focused on defending existing protections while advancing the policies and investments our communities need to thrive.

FEATURED INITIATIVE
TGI Wellness and Equity Initiative
The TransLatin@ Coalition led a community-driven advocacy campaign that secured a historic $7 million allocation for transgender, gender-expansive, and intersex communities in Los Angeles County.
Approved unanimously by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors in November 2024, the investment supports linkage to care, service coordination, and infrastructure for community-based organizations.
WORKING ACROSS GOVERNMENT

TLC collaborates with community members, advocacy coalitions, service providers, and policymakers at the city, county, state, and federal levels.
Our work includes advocating for immigrant housing and worker protections, expanding legal representation, advancing care-first alternatives to incarceration, and securing public resources for TGI-led organizations and programs.
Through coalitions such as Immigrants Are LA and ReImagine LA, we ensure that TGI community members are represented in the decisions that affect their lives.
