In recent years, The TransLatin@ Coalition has been at the forefront of advocating for policies that uplift and support the transgender, gender diverse, and intersex (TGI) community. Through collaborative efforts and unwavering dedication, the Coalition has played a pivotal role in shaping discussions and policies to improve TGI individuals' lives across the United States.

The recent deaths of Nex Benedict and Reyna Hernandez, a 54-year-old Latina trans woman from Renton, Washington, serve as a painful reminder of the ongoing violence targeting TGI communities.

On this International Women's Day, The TransLatin@ Coalition celebrates the incredible contributions and achievements of transgender women worldwide.

This devastating incident underscores the urgent need for action to protect and uplift transgender, gender nonbinary, and intersex (TGI) individuals.

As we celebrate the journey of our remarkable organization, it's crucial to reflect on its early beginnings and the profound impact it has had on the lives of transgender, gender nonconforming, and intersex (TGI) Latinx individuals. This year, we are celebrating a year-long campaign showcasing the milestones we have achieved so far; this is the first of three phases.

Frida's narrative is one of profound courage and tenacity, from the treacherous corners of Mexico to the welcoming arms of a supportive community. The challenges she encountered on her journey were formidable, but through the unwavering assistance of The TransLatin@ Coalition, Frida not only found support but also discovered her strength.

Recently, Florida passed a new law barring transgender individuals from changing the sex marker on their driver's licenses. This means that many members of the transgender, gender nonconforming, and intersex (TGI) community will face additional challenges and potential discrimination when accessing essential services.

The TransLatin@ Coalition (TLC) and the Department of Chicana(o)/Latina(o) Studies (CLS) at Cal State Los Angeles collaborated on addressing the impact of COVID-19 in the TGI community in Los Angeles County.
