A Joint Statement from Counter Narrative Project, HIV Prevention Justice Alliance, Positive Women's Network - USA, TransLatin@ Coalition, Treatment Action Group, the US People Living with HIV Caucus and Venas Abiertas

On November 29, 2016, The California Endowment and TransLatin@ Coalition presented an evening of conversation, art, and celebration centered around supporting the health of the Trans community.

Thank you to all who have supported us and celebrated with us during the opening of The Center for Violence Prevention & Transgender Wellness on February 1, 2017.

Our organization, in partnership with The California Endowment and Jacqueline Caraves embarked in a new task to amplify the needs of Trans Latin@s in the southern part of our golden state. The sole purpose of this project was to make an assessment about what are the needs that would make Trans Latin@s in southern California healthy individuals.

Your contribution will help us build a strong foundation to continue our advocacy and support work around immigration, criminalization, HIV/AIDS, economic empowerment and social justice for the Trans Latin@ community in the United States.

There was a vigil last evening for Annabel Montoya, the East Los Angeles transgender teen who was intentionally run down by a vehicle in Monterey Park on around 2:30 am on Saturday April 2. Police have said that Annabel may have been beaten before being run down. 

Cristina is a long time activist and friend in Los Angeles. She has helped many people and now is in a detention center because of how the system is set up and wrongly criminalizing us simply because of who we are as Trans Woman.

G.A.R.R.A.S. is a fashion show that highlights Trans & gender-nonconforming individuals and allies as high fashion models, stylist and designers.
