Bamby Salcedo appointed by Governor Gavin Newson to the Commission on the State of Hate
The TransLatin@ Coalition is proud to congratulate our CEO and President Bamby Salcedo for being appointed by Governor Gavin Newson to the Commission on the State of Hate. The Commission will assess data on hate crimes in California, provide resources for victims, and make policy recommendations to better protect civil rights.
Immigrants Are LA holds While You Were Out Rally to welcome LA County supervisors from time off, urge them to include immigrants in ARPA II
On Tuesday, August 30, 2022, the Immigrants Are LA (IRLA) coalition will hold a While You Were Out rally to welcome Los Angeles County supervisors back from two weeks of time off, and to urge them to truly include immigrants as they decide how to spend Phase II of federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) COVID recovery funds.

The TransLatin@ Coalition with The Department of Health is hosting a Monkeypox and COVID-19 Mobile Vaccination Clinic.
Transgender people in California are far more likely to be stopped by police due to ‘reasonable suspicion’
The draft report, released by the state attorney general, is based on data that 58 of the state’s biggest law enforcement agencies were required to collect. It reveals that when a transgender person was stopped by police in 2021, there was almost a 50/50 chance that it wasn’t for a traffic violation or some other immediately apparent infraction.
