The TransLatin@ Coalition denounces Sid Miller, the Commissioner of Agriculture, and his transphobic attacks against the Transgender, Gender Non-Conforming, and Intersex (TGI) community on their gender expression.

On Tuesday, April 11th, our President/CEO Bamby Salcedo testified on the Public Health: Transgender, Gender Variant, and Intersex Wellness Reentry Fund to voice support on AB1487 on the importance of the Reentry Services to our community.

Now is the time to act! We are asking you to join us in signing this petition and invite others to support our efforts. We need to let the City of Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass know that she needs to include our organization in the upcoming budget.

This Transgender Day of Visibility, we are asking for the TransLatin@ Coalition to be explicitly included in this year’s city’s budget to fund our growth and commitment of serving TGI people in Los Angeles.

The TransLatin@ Coalition vehemently stands opposed to this harmful attack on Transgender, Gender-Nonconforming and Intersex youth. We stand for education and the eradication of hateful ignorance by leading models of community-based public policy that empower the most marginalized voices to not just survive but to imagine and build a future where we thrive. 

Councilmembers Eunisses Hernandez, Nithya Raman and Hugo Soto-Martinez introduced legislation directing the City to report back on an ordinance to establish the City of Los Angeles as a “Sanctuary City” and prohibit any City resources, property or personnel from being utilized for any federal immigration enforcement.

The ongoing efforts by far-right extremists to dictate what Trans People can do with their bodies must end. Just as other Americans have the autonomy to do with their bodies as they do, so should we. We have the right to have full access to competent health care, and to live authentically in the Land of the so-called Free! 

The TransLatin@ Coalition proudly announces our advisory board, a diverse group of twelve committed people who will help us address the strategic direction for our organization and help us support developing plans to improve the quality of life and the betterment of our Trans, Gender Non-Conforming, and Intersex (TGI) community.  

We are deeply concerned about the ongoing discriminatory, exclusionary measures filed in state legislatures nationwide that target transgender youth. Youth who identify as transgender or gender nonconforming and Intersex (TGI) continue to face obstacles in receiving high-quality medical treatment.
