The TransLatin@ Coalition regrets to announce the cancellation of the Los Angeles City Mayoral Candidates Forum.

On Monday, April 20, we received notification from both the Karen Bass and Nithya Raman teams that they would no longer be able to attend the forum. After thoughtful consideration of these developments, along with the resources and staff time required to proceed, our leadership team has made the difficult decision to cancel the event.

Our goal was to create a space for meaningful dialogue between mayoral candidates and our communities and broad coalition, centering the voices and needs of trans, gender-expansive, and immigrant communities in Los Angeles. While we are disappointed that we are unable to move forward as planned, we remain committed to fostering opportunities for civic engagement and accountability.

We also want to acknowledge that Alex Cohen and Melina Abdullah had been confirmed as co-moderators, and a media partnership with LAist was in progress to support and broadcast the forum. We are grateful for their collaboration and look forward to future opportunities to work together.

We deeply appreciate the interest and support from everyone who registered and planned to attend.

We will continue to keep our community informed about future events and opportunities to engage.
