On May 1, 2025, The TransLatin@ Coalition proudly joined over 90 organizations, unions, and community partners at the International Workers Day March in downtown Los Angeles. Under the bright spring sun at the intersection of South Figueroa Street and Olympic Boulevard, we stood united to demand justice, dignity, and rights for workers and immigrants—especially those within the transgender, gender expansive, and intersex (TGI) communities.

Marching for Justice: Workers’ Rights Are Immigrants’ Rights

May Day has long been a day of resistance, and this year was no exception. For The TransLatin@ Coalition, this march was not just about raising our voices—it was about being visible, powerful, and rooted in collective resistance. We marched alongside our comrades to denounce the systemic exploitation of immigrant labor and to uplift the struggles of trans and queer workers who are too often excluded from workplace protections and recognition.

We waved our commemorative TLC15 flags high with pride, honoring over a decade and a half of resilience, advocacy, and transformational impact in the lives of transgender, gender-diverse, and intersex (TGI) individuals across the country as we amplified our message that the fight for labor justice and immigrant justice is one and the same. Our signs, chants, and presence challenged the oppressive narratives and policies of the current administration that continue to target trans immigrants and communities of color.

Our Collective Power

This year’s march featured over 90 groups uniting in powerful solidarity. The TransLatin@ Coalition showed up in full force—staff, clients, and community members alike. Our team played a vital role, with Bamby Salcedo addressing the rally as a featured speaker, and staff including videographers, photographers, and social media leads ensuring the event was documented and shared widely with our community.

Rooted in Resistance, Moving Toward Liberation

In a political moment where our rights are increasingly under attack, participating in May Day was an act of radical visibility and defiance. We reject attempts to divide us and stand firmly in the truth that “One Struggle, One Fight—All Workers Unite!” This year’s march reminded us of the strength we hold when we come together as a movement: queer, trans, immigrant, laborer, and ally alike.

We thank everyone who marched beside us and those who cheered from afar. Our liberation is bound together, and every step we took on the streets of Los Angeles brought us closer to a future of equity, safety, and dignity for all.
