The TransLatin@ Coalition Vehemently Condemns the HHS Report on Transgender Health Care
The TransLatin@ Coalition vehemently condemns the Department of Health and Human Services’ recent “report” on transgender health care as nothing more than a politically motivated attack on our community. By refusing even to attach an author’s name, HHS has revealed this document for what it truly is: a hollow, anonymous smear campaign designed to roll back decades of progress in transgender medical care—“as if the report magically wrote itself,” remarked President & CEO Bamby Salcedo.
“Trans people have waited too long and fought too hard for our lives to be reduced to nameless talking points,” said Bamby Salcedo, President & CEO of the TransLatin@ Coalition. “We refuse to allow this administration to weaponize misinformation against our families, our bodies, and our futures.”
Despite the Trump administration’s attempts to distort science and deny our humanity, leading medical organizations – including the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the Endocrine Society – have unequivocally affirmed that gender-affirming care is medically necessary and life-saving. We will not stand by while HHS seeks to silence these voices or erase the medical consensus that saves trans lives every day.
The Trump administration may attempt to erase our names, our stories, and our experts—but they will never erase our resolve. We will continue to organize, litigate, educate, and empower until every transgender Latin@ person can access the care they need, free from fear, free from stigma, and free from political attacks.
We stand united, we stand strong, and we will fight—not just to defend the progress we’ve won, but to secure a future where gender-affirming care is recognized as a fundamental right for all.
