We at The TransLatin@ Coalition were thrilled to host Celebrating TGIWE Investment on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, on the front steps of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors in Downtown Los Angeles, CA.

In November 2024, the L.A. County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the Transgender, Gender-Nonconforming, and Intersex Wellness and Equity (TGIWE) Initiative—and just last month, the L.A. County CEO’s Recommended Budget fast-tracked its funding to uplift our community.

This groundbreaking $7 million allocation will empower nine community-based organizations with linkage to care, service coordination, and infrastructure support to ensure equitable access to housing, food security, employment, and healthcare for TGI individuals across L.A. County.

“We need to make sure that we not just survive, but that we're able to thrive, and this is one step to get us closer to having beautiful, productive, and great lives.”

-Bamby Salcedo, CEO & President of The TransLatin@ Coalition

At today’s gathering, we were joined by community members, advocates, policy partners, and allies who shared powerful testimonies about the transformative impact this investment will have on our lives. Our CEO & President, Bamby Salcedo, reminded us that “we want to make sure that this continues. We need to make sure that our community receives the investment in our livelihood. We need to make sure that we not just survive, but that we're able to thrive, and this is one step to get us closer to having beautiful, productive, and great lives.”
