Speaking at the event, COO and Vice President Maria Roman-Taylorson called on city leaders to fund the community organizations that have led this work for decades, urging immediate action to ensure equity and justice for TGI communities across Los Angeles.

California just made history! 🎉 Governor Newsom has signed AB 1487, renaming the state’s Transgender Wellness and Equity Fund to the Two-Spirit, Transgender, Gender Nonconforming, and Intersex (2TGI) Wellness and Equity Fund — a powerful recognition of our diverse community. Alongside this victory, we celebrate a slate of bills we sponsored and supported that advance safety, dignity, and justice for all 2TGI people.

New research from the Williams Institute at UCLA School of Law, in partnership with the TransLatin@ Coalition, finds that about three-quarters (73%) of immigrant respondents to the LA County Trans & Nonbinary Survey—including 80% of trans Latina immigrants—live at or below the federal poverty level, compared to 44% of non-immigrant respondents.
