The recent Supreme Court decision overturning Affirmative Action has dealt a severe blow to the progress made in advancing equity and diversity in our nation. Deeming equity unconstitutional, the court undermines the ongoing efforts to level the playing field and create a more inclusive society.

The TransLatin@ Coalition denounces Sid Miller, the Commissioner of Agriculture, and his transphobic attacks against the Transgender, Gender Non-Conforming, and Intersex (TGI) community on their gender expression.

On Tuesday, April 11th, our President/CEO Bamby Salcedo testified on the Public Health: Transgender, Gender Variant, and Intersex Wellness Reentry Fund to voice support on AB1487 on the importance of the Reentry Services to our community.

Councilmembers Eunisses Hernandez, Nithya Raman and Hugo Soto-Martinez introduced legislation directing the City to report back on an ordinance to establish the City of Los Angeles as a “Sanctuary City” and prohibit any City resources, property or personnel from being utilized for any federal immigration enforcement.

We are deeply concerned about the ongoing discriminatory, exclusionary measures filed in state legislatures nationwide that target transgender youth. Youth who identify as transgender or gender nonconforming and Intersex (TGI) continue to face obstacles in receiving high-quality medical treatment.

We are incredibly grateful that our Governor Gavin Newsom signed AB-2521 which is an inclusive bill that supports the health care of all TGI people. As we said: "When We Fight, We Win!"
