The announcement below describes the 2026 application cycle.

There is still time to apply for the 2026 GARRAS Scholarship, but the deadline is almost here. Completed applications must be submitted by Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at 11:59 PM.

The TransLatin@ Coalition will award two scholarships of $5,000 each. The awards are designed to support eligible students as they pursue their educational goals and build the futures they choose for themselves.

If you have been waiting for the right moment to finish your application, mi gente, this is it.

Education Is Part of Trans Power

Transgender, gender-expansive, and intersex (TGI) students bring talent, insight, leadership, and lived expertise into classrooms and campuses. They also deserve the resources and support needed to learn without having to set aside their identities, communities, or dreams.

The GARRAS Scholarship reflects a simple belief: investing in TGI students strengthens our entire community. Education can create new possibilities, but tuition and other school-related costs can place those possibilities out of reach. A scholarship cannot remove every barrier, but it can give a student more room to focus, grow, and move forward.

Each $5,000 award is valid for one year and will be paid directly to the recipient’s educational institution.
