LA Bamby Is Taking the Stage at Long Beach Pride and We Want You There!

LA Bamby at the 2025 Long Beach Pride Parade

We have some exciting news to share: our very own Bamby Salcedo, President and CEO of The TransLatin@ Coalition, will be performing live at the 43rd Annual Long Beach Pride Festival on Sunday, May 17th, under her artist name LA Bamby, and trust us, you do not want to miss this.

Long Beach Pride is one of the most celebrated LGBTQ+ events in Southern California, drawing thousands of people to the Downtown Long Beach waterfront every year for a weekend full of music, community, and joy. This year's theme, "Fearless and Free," is not just a slogan. It is a direct response to the rising climate of hate and rhetoric targeting TGI+ people across the country, and a reminder that our community has always found ways to rise, celebrate, and refuse to be silenced.

LA Bamby will take the Founder's Stage, the festival's main stage known for its hip hop and Latin artist lineup, on Sunday, May 17th from 8:00 pm to 8:10 pm. She will be debuting two original songs, including “La costurera" and, of course, her anthem "LA Cumbia del Movimiento," which she first premiered last August.

Music, for Bamby, was born out of one of the most difficult periods our communities have faced. As ICE raids intensified and anti trans and anti-immigrant attacks escalated, she found herself asking what she could offer her people in those moments. The answer came through lyrics. Cumbia, with its universal energy and history of lifting spirits, became her vehicle. As she put it, music has always been part of movements, and this was her gift to keep joy alive in times of despair.

About the song, she wrote: "This song was made to bring a little joy to the hearts of people who have experienced so much sorrow in recent times. I offer this song wholeheartedly to all the people of the world, especially to my Spanish-speaking people."

This Pride feels especially meaningful. As a transgender immigrant woman in Los Angeles, Bamby has spoken about how this moment, even amid so much chaos and oppression, is a chance to choose freedom, even if just for a day. To be who you are, express yourself fully, and be fearless. That is what she will be bringing to that stage.

Also, the whole TransLatin@ team will be present throughout the weekend as a booth sponsor and marching at the Pride parade alongside our float, so come find us, say hello, and celebrate with us.

The parade takes place Sunday, May 17th, starting at 10 AM along Ocean Boulevard and Coronado Avenue. The full festival lineup includes headliners Ivy Queen and Saucy Santana, along with Valentina, Reyna Roberts, Long Beach's beloved Jewels, and many more across multiple stages.
