The TransLatin@ Coalition at LA PRIDE 2026: Trans Power Hit Hollywood Boulevard, and the World Was Watching

The TransLatin@ Coalition took to the streets of Hollywood for the 56th annual LA Pride Parade, bringing Trans Power to one of the most iconic celebrations in the country and ensuring our community was seen, heard, and celebrated.

There are parades, and then there is LA Pride. Now in its 56th year, the march through Hollywood is one of the longest-running Prides in the United States, and on Sunday, June 14, 2026, it belonged to all of us.

By 9:00 in the morning, the energy was already building along Sunset Boulevard. Floats, marchers, sequins, rainbows, and t-shirts with messages of love and resistance filled the streets before the official 11 AM kickoff. Right there among the 120-plus contingents of bands, dancers, and community organizations, was our familia, The TransLatin@ Coalition, ready to rise, and we weren't alone. A contingent from the ACLU marched alongside us, a powerful reminder that the fight for trans rights is a fight for civil rights, and that our allies show up when it counts.

Hollywood Boulevard Was Our Stage

The parade stepped off at Sunset and Highland, moved north and then east along Hollywood Boulevard, and concluded at Cahuenga, where the free Pride Village welcomed thousands more. ABC7 broadcast the entire parade live, with their team stationed at Hollywood High School on Highland, and when the camera panned to our contingent, anchor Tony Cabrera said it plainly: "The trans community well represented, and that includes The TransLatin@ Coalition."

That moment of recognition on live television wasn't just a shoutout. It was a reflection of what our presence means, in this city, in this political moment, in this movement.

"Protect the Dolls" Is More Than a Slogan

ABC7 reporter David González spoke with our Vice President and COO, Maria Roman-Taylorson, on the parade route. When asked about the message "Protect the Dolls" and why it matters, Maria didn't hold back:

"It's not only protect the dolls, support the dolls, really spend resources to support trans people. We are the largest trans-led organization in the United States and it is imperative that you support us. TransLatin@ Coalition is here, proud."

Reporter González also caught up with our President and CEO, Bamby Salcedo, and asked her about what it means to be trans and Latina, and to see the outpouring of support on a day like this. Her answer was everything:

"I think it's important that we understand the intersections that we live, and how we are resilient people, and how we do whatever we have to do in order to exist in our society."

The reporter's response summed up the energy around our contingent perfectly: "They are bringing the fiesta!"

And we were.

Rising With Pride, Marching With Purpose

This year's LA Pride theme, Rise With Pride, was more than a celebration slogan. Lawrence Carroll, Board President of Christopher Street West, the nonprofit behind the world's first permitted LGBTQ+ parade in 1970, said it best: the theme is a responsibility, especially this year, when listening to community and responding intentionally matters more than ever.

For TLC, that responsibility is at the core of everything we do. We march not only to celebrate, but to remind our city and our country that the TGI community is here, that we are resilient, and that no amount of political attacks will erase us from the streets, from the conversation, or from the future we are building together.

Trans Power is not just our parade theme. It is our everyday reality.
