Your Future Starts Here! Apply for the 2026 GARRAS Scholarship
At The TransLatin@ Coalition, we believe in investing in the leaders of our communities. That's why we're proud to present the GARRAS Scholarship — a $5,000 award designed to support Two-Spirit, Transgender, Gender Expansive, and Intersex (2TGI) students pursuing higher education or vocational training in the Los Angeles area.
This year, we're awarding two scholarships of $5,000 each. If you're a 2TGI student with big goals and a heart for community, we want to hear from you.
Application Deadline: September 15, 2026 at 11:59 PM PST

Who Can Apply?

You may be eligible if you:
Are at least 18 years old
Are currently enrolled full-time at an educational or vocational institution
Self-identify as Two-Spirit, transgender, gender expansive, or intersex
Reside in Los Angeles or a neighboring county
Undocumented students are encouraged and welcome to apply
What Do You Need to Submit?
Applying is straightforward. You'll need:
Proof of full-time enrollment (transcript, enrollment verification, or acceptance letter)
One essay (maximum 1,500 words) responding to three prompts: Who am I? What are my goals while attending school? How will I give back to my communities after graduation?
Availability for a finalist interview with a representative from The TransLatin@ Coalition
How the Scholarship Works
Scholarship funds are paid directly to your educational or vocational institution for one academic year. Recipients are also required to attend the GARRAS Fashion Show Fundraiser in person on Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 9:30 PM PST at the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood — this is where you'll officially receive your award and be celebrated by the community.
