The SAFETY Act empowers schools to become safe havens for all students and teachers by implementing comprehensive training for school staff on LGBTQ+ issues, securing access to gender-affirming facilities, and reinforcing anti-bullying policies.

On February 13, advocates, community leaders, and allies joined forces at the Kenneth Hall of Administration in Los Angeles for the impactful Show Us Love Rally aimed to raise awareness about the disparities faced by transgender individuals and push for tangible action from the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors.

The TransLatin@ Coalition is thrilled to announce the release of the comprehensive study, "From Surviving to Thriving: A Quality of Life Study with Transgender, Gender Nonconforming, and Intersex (TGI) Adults in the City of Los Angeles." This groundbreaking research was a collaborative effort between The TransLatin@ Coalition and the prestigious Williams Institute at UCLA Los Angeles.

In a historic moment for the Transgender, Gender Diverse, and Intersex (TGI) community, The TransLatin@ Coalition is overjoyed to celebrate the recent passage and signing of two groundbreaking bills, AB 1487 and AB 1163, by California Governor Gavin Newsom. These vital pieces of legislation, sponsored by the California Transgender, Gender Diverse, and Intersex Policy Alliance (CTPA) Health and Human Services Network, represent a significant step forward in the fight for equality and dignity.

The TransLatin@ Coalition as a founding member of the California Transgender, Gender Diverse, and Intersex Policy Alliance (CTPA), a leading advocate for the specific and often overlooked issues that transgender, gender-nonconforming, and intersex (TGI) individuals face, expresses its vehement condemnation of Governor Newson's lack of support for our TGI community. Despite California's reputation for promoting freedom and equality, and passing many pro “LGBTQ” bills, we demand that the Governor stops leaving the TGI community last. 

The TransLatin@ Coalition (TLC) and the Department of Chicana(o)/Latina(o) Studies (CLS) at Cal State Los Angeles collaborated on addressing the impact of COVID-19 in the TGI community in Los Angeles County.

We are presenting the report on the Impact of COVID-19 In Trans, Gender Nonconforming, and Intersex (TGI) communities in Los Angeles County.

The Re-Imagine LA Coalition, allies, and partners are mobilizing at the LA County Board of Supervisors on Monday, August 7th to celebrate this historic victory, and to call for full funding of Measure J and investment in a Care First budget. 

Assembly Bill (AB) 1163, a groundbreaking bill sponsored by Assemblywoman Luz Rivas (D – San Fernando Valley) recently passed, expands the collection of demographic data to include voluntary self-identification information about sexual orientation and gender identity/expression (SOGIE).

The TransLatin@ Coalition (TLC), in collaboration with the County of Los Angeles Anti-Racism, Diversity, and Inclusion (ARDI) Initiative and other Trans, Gender non conforming, and Intersex (TGI)-led community organizations, co-hosted a Countywide TGI Needs Assessment Town Hall.
