Los Angeles takes a stand to protect gender-affirming care as community advocates step forward
Los Angeles is once again taking a public stand in support of transgender, gender expansive, and intersex (TGI) youth, their families, and their access to gender-affirming care.
On April 15, Councilmember Ysabel Jurado introduced a resolution opposing a formal declaration by Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and two proposed federal rules advanced by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services that would significantly restrict access to gender-affirming healthcare for minors.

A Historic Victory for Our 2TGI Community
California just made history! 🎉 Governor Newsom has signed AB 1487, renaming the state’s Transgender Wellness and Equity Fund to the Two-Spirit, Transgender, Gender Nonconforming, and Intersex (2TGI) Wellness and Equity Fund — a powerful recognition of our diverse community. Alongside this victory, we celebrate a slate of bills we sponsored and supported that advance safety, dignity, and justice for all 2TGI people.

TLC Responds to Governor Newsom’s Budget Proposal
At The TransLatin@ Coalition, we are deeply concerned by Governor Newsom’s proposed budget, which freezes Medi-Cal expansion for undocumented adults and slashes funding to critical providers like Planned Parenthood. These are not just numbers on a spreadsheet — these are decisions that put the lives of poor, undocumented, trans, and gender expansive people at risk.
